I get a kick out of seeing creative new uses for those plastic clips that keep bags of bread closed. (We’ve highlighted some bread-tag reuse examples here.)
Also, trashion — clothing made from items that many people would toss into a trash can or a recycling bin — not only makes many of us smile, but encourages us to consider our wardrobe options and choices.
That said, there’s this: Bread clips upcycled into a wedding dress.
The bride, Australia resident and fashion designer Stephanie Watson, sewed onto cotton fabric some 10,000 bread bag clips she’d collected for 10+ years. Cost: $36.
Ms Watson said she started collecting bread tags a decade ago at 19, and joked that when there were enough tags to cover a wedding dress, she and Mr Wapling would get married.
“We started living together in Geelong and there was a pile of bread tags on the window sill which we just kept adding to,” Ms Watson said.
“It was just a joke at the beginning, but then people heard about the idea and they started collecting for us and giving us bread tags. “I was getting so many, I had to keep getting bigger and bigger jars.
A cousin (who’s a baker) donated a roll of tags (presumably new ones, but still) to help Stephanie complete the dress.

The design revisions were:
- Strategic cut-outs shape to fit fingers in such a way that it is easy to bend them and not disrupt the bandage.
- An intelligent dressing material allows you to regularly check wounds from the outside, without upsetting the healing process.“According to research, the when an infection of a wound is detected, the pH value is between 6.5 and 8.5. AmoeBAND’s indicator cross turns purple, alerting the user needs to change it immediately.”
- Since the bandage material used exudes a leather-like feel, availability in different skin-tones helps it blend in, without overly highlighting the injury.
- The packaging has been redesigned to a matchbox style and includes Braille instructions.

it’s always funny when people improve on something and you look at the innovations and it’s like so fucking obvious what needed to be changed, but yet no one seemingly thought of it until then, yourself included
Innovations like this are so simple and elegant that they’re beautiful
You see the weirdest things at parks in LA. This guy was bench-pressing this goose for ten minutes.

In India, a snake protects two pups for 48 hours after they accidentally fall into a hole. At first it was thought that she wanted to attack them, but then noticed she was caring for the puppies. When rescued, the snake was released into a forest.
”A sweet-looking Japanese girl who, one day, decided to take self-portraits..of herself levitating. She can be spotted in and around Tokyo, equipped with her SLR and her self-timer. When she feels the moment strike, she presses the shutter button down and then, quite literally, “jumps” into place. What I love most about her shots is that they don’t feel forced. Natsumi has a way of making us feel as though she naturally levitates throughout life. When I asked her how others react to her jumping around Tokyo, here is a funny story that she shared. “One day, when I was jumping at a famous sightseeing spot in western Tokyo, workers at a souvenir shop were frightened by how I was jumping. They were whispering things like ‘Is the girl mentally ill’ and ‘Do we need to call the police?’ “So I stopped jumping and apologized to them by saying, ‘I am taking jumping photos for my wedding party’s slide show.’ Their faces turned bright red, and they said things like ‘Oh dear!’ and ‘Congratulations!’ and even ‘Keep jumping!’
i love her
